Louise Rogers

Bass Player Magazine, August 2005

The bass and voice duo is one of the most daunting configurations, leaving both performers totally exposed. Perhaps the fact that Rogers and Strong are married helps here, but their individual strengths combine to create a unique chemistry. Strong plays acoustic upright and Fodera 6 string in solid support of the vocals, but stands alone as a soloist with great time, tone and ideas. His chordal work on the 6 utilizes the instrument's full range and is perfect accompaniment for Rogers' pristine vocals. Strong's upright sounds natural and woody and he swings hard. The pair have arranged the music to keep it interesting throughout the 10 tracks with tricky unison lines, overdubbed vocal textures, and solos.
